The Stern Root Anchor retains and stabilizes complete overdentures and removable partial dentures using the retained roots of endodontically treated teeth. It features an intraradicular ball and socket joint with the connection point inside the root. The attachment places the point of occlusal force application within the root, allowing teeth with poor crown to root ratios to be used as attachment abutments for overdentures when periodontal conditions permit. It has a minimal crown to root ratio and lowers occlusal stress on the root.
